Capstone Project: Motivational Interviewing: In the day-to-day operations at the Department of Children and Families, one of the main functions is child protective services. This issue causes staff to engage with families and to conduct interviews both in and out of the home on a routine basis. During these conversations, individuals may be reluctant to share information needed to make an appropriate assessment on a case-level decision. Without all of the relevant information, caseworkers begin to rely upon their intuition, which unfortunately cannot always be 100% accurate. The Department of Children and Families operates its training academy. However, there is currently no class that addresses this exact problem.
