Lori Williams
Rehabilitation Music Therapist 2, Department of Corrections
Rehabilitation Music Therapist, Department of Corrections
Lori is a Rehabilitation Therapist practicing music therapy with the Department of Correction and is currently working at Manson Youth Institution. She earned her board certification in music therapy in 2001 and has been providing music therapy services in juvenile justice for 16 years. Lori started working with the State of CT in 2008 at the CT Juvenile Training School, where she gained an interest in developmental trauma and restorative justice. She soon became a trainer for other employees in these areas and developed a nationally recognized internship for music therapy students.
When the CT Juvenile Training School closed in 2018, Lori transferred to Manson Youth Institution, where she developed and is currently implementing the only music therapy program in the CT Department of Correction. She has continued her education and earned her license as a Professional Counselor in 2021. The knowledge she has gained has allowed her to bring trauma-informed and culturally responsive treatment to the youth she works with every day.

“By attending the TYJP, I would like to network with other professionals in the field of juvenile justice reform in CT. I also look forward to learning more about how I can impact change throughout the system, including in the community and in the facility where I work.”
