Previously, Dr. Kennedy served as the Commissioner of Public Health for Monroe County in Rochester N.Y. Prior to this assignment, Dr. Kennedy provided health policy expertise to The California State Legislature, where he also served as the lead staffer for a statewide Healthy Communities Initiative focused on improving the health status of medically underserved populations by developing prevention strategies with limited resources.
Dr. Kennedy is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine and is experienced in occupational medicine, urgent care, and general practice clinics. He is a graduate of Yale University (MD, Ph.D., and MPH degrees). He has published papers in the areas of communicable disease outbreaks, chronic disease treatment, tobacco control, repetitive use-injury, and health disparities.
