John Frassinelli, MS, RD is the Division Director of the Connecticut State Department of Education Division of School Health, Child Nutrition, and Family Services. He is a registered dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion and Bachelors’ Degrees in Political Science and Nutrition and Dietetics. His area of responsibility includes over 50 programs and initiatives including: school social, emotional, behavioral and mental and physical health including school nursing, counseling, and social work support; health education and physical education; child nutrition; school safety; juvenile justice; student discipline; truancy, attendance and chronic absenteeism; substance use prevention; pregnant and parenting teens; after-school programs; and family and community engagement. Prior to coming to the State Department of Education in 2013, he was the State Director of the WIC Program and the former coordinator of SNAP Education at the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
