Ellen Brezowsky
Director of Outreach and Community Initiatives, Kids in Crisis
Ellen received her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University. Ellen is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of CT and has a long history of working in prevention education and program planning.
Ellen is currently the Director of Outreach and Community Initiatives at Kids In Crisis in Greenwich, overseeing the Teen Talk Program and other community programming. Before taking on the Directorship, Ellen served as the Assistant Director of Outreach and Prevention coordinating the Drug Free Communities Grant and the local prevention council, Greenwich Together. Prior to coming to Greenwich, Ellen was the Executive Director of New Canaan CARES, a nonprofit focusing on parent education and youth leadership. Ellen worked as the Director of Community Relations at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan before her time with New Canaan CARES.
Before joining Silver Hill Hospital, Ellen spent 18 years working for the City of Stamford Health and Social Services Department in their HIV Prevention Program, first as the HIV Prevention Educator and then as the HIV Prevention Supervisor. Ellen also has consulted at the Stamford Counseling Center as an individual/couple/family therapist. She has also supervised social workers in the Stamford School Based Health Centers as well as HIV case managers at Stamford CARES. Ellen continues to supervise Masters of Social Work students. Ellen began her career as a medical social worker in the AIDS unit at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY where she also planned educational programs for both staff and the community.
Ellen also recently became an Adjunct Professor at UConn Stamford, teaching the First Year Experience Course to incoming Freshmen.
