Kim is an LCSW who is passionate about the intersection between the justice system, mental health, social and environmental impacts on mental and behavioral health, and social justice and reform. She is a graduate of the University of New Haven (B.S. Criminal Justice, B.A. Psychology, 2017) and went on to earn her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Southern Connecticut State University (2020). She has extensive work history and experience within both the mental health and justice realms and their many areas of overlap, including working as a group facilitator for the young adult population on community release; completing internships with both state and federal probation; working alongside DCF to complete intensive in-home therapeutic treatment for high risk families and youth affected by intimate partner violence; providing therapeutic services for children’s outpatient in a high-risk community; and providing clinical services to youth within DOC at Manson Youth Institution.
She is passionate about treating, supporting, empowering, and advocating for historically underserved and marginalized populations, particularly youth and emerging adults. She adopts and abides by the core values of her profession which include service, social justice, dignity and worth of person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence; and these values extend beyond the professional realm and into her personal world and relationships. In her free time, she enjoys reading, powerlifting, dancing, playing guitar, traveling, and learning new languages.
