The Connecticut Institute for Youth and Police Relations  will be a public/private partnership comprised of the Tow Youth Justice Institute and the Center for Advanced Policing at the University of New Haven, and municipal police agencies, piloted in the Greater Hartford area. From the University, Tow Youth Justice Institute Director of Research and faculty Dr. Danielle Cooper, and Center for Advanced Policing, VP, Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Lorenzo Boyd, are taking the lead on this project.

The Chiefs of Police in Avon, Berlin, Bristol, Cromwell, East Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester, Vernon, Windsor, the Capitol Region Chiefs of Police Association, and the Mayor of Hartford provided letters of support.  Officers in those areas will represent patrol, gang unit, community engagement officers, and school resource officers who have received commitment from their agency’s leadership.

The CIYPR has received support and funding from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Travelers Championship and the University of New Haven, and a planning grant from the Singer Foundation.
