Kelly Orts earned her Masters degree in Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven while working on decreasing truancy at the New Haven Regional Children’s Probate Court and reforming juvenile justice policies at the Tow Youth Justice Institute. Kelly contributed to the foundation of TYJI through the development of its communication platforms, coordination of events and committee meetings, and support of research projects for JJPOC.
She also comes with experience as a certified domestic violence counselor, educating students, service providers, and community organizations across Middlesex County. Most recently, she led intervention efforts as Supervisor of the Explore program in Hartford. In this role, she partnered with state agencies and court based referral sources to implement psycho-educational programming for domestic violence offenders.
